5 Reasons Why The ‘Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere Night’ Was Amazing

The summer heat maybe scorching here in Manila, but to Game of Thrones Fans, we already know that “Winter is coming..” dun-dun-da-da-duhn-dun-da-da..

Last night, I was invited by his grace, King Tommen Baratheon, to attend the Game of Thrones Season 5 advanced screening. (Oh diba close kami ni Tom.)  I almost wanted to cry because I was part of the first group in Asia to watch the new episode, days ahead before the worldwide cast.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere Night

Although, the event itself was incredible, I must say there are 5 reasons that made it even more, amazing!

1. #IronThronePH replica

Every GoT fan dreams of sitting on the throne, whether you’re a Lannister, a Stark or a hybrid of the two. Well my friends, HBO Asia has brought a life-size replica of the Iron Throne here in Manila. Make sure you drop by Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street from April 8-10, to witness the glorious throne! Also, don’t forget to use the hashtag, #IronThronePh.

2. Quirky freebies

Before the episode premiere, host Gelli Victor lead a quick trivia game about the show. And, the winners were able to win quirky GoT toys from Funkopop. Here’s my friend Frau’s tiny Joffrey.

3. Westeros style set design

HBO Asia did an incredible job in creating a modern day Game of Thrones-inspired theater! What I loved most about the styling of the place, were the banners displayed on the windows!

4. The screening itself

Okay, I promise, I won’t say any spoilers! Kung gusto mo ma-spoil, pwede mo kong i-pm. But the episode in itself was BITIN. Yup, after watching, I was like, “Yun na yon? May next episode pa ba? Charot!” Aside from being amazed by the first episode, It was also refreshing to see most of the major characters (aka my friends) after a long break. 🙂 Sarap siguro mag marathon ng seasons 1-4.

5.  Fellowship of GoT Fans

Th best part of the event (aside from the advanced screening, of course) was being in a community of people who enjoy the show. I love how everyone had this happy vibe during the screening! And then I realized, Ang sarap pala manood ng as a group. Usually, kasi I watch the episode alone, cause I like to concentrate. Pero ang saya pala! Next time, backyard party GoT style. #lamna

Nailabas ko rin yung inner geeky self ko. I like talking about series. I like talking about people who think Westeros is a non-fictional world. So, I therefore conclude I must join the Game of Thrones Convention sa U.S. naman para bongga. Push, libre mangarap guys.

For the event, I asked my friend Fraulein Bañares to accompany me. I wanted to work with somebody who loved the show as well, para win win situation. And as you can see, Frau takes amazing photos! Oh and, my other friend Fatima Cullado was also one of the event organizers. Kaya ang saya, Ac rocks, Ac yes kami that night.

Overall, the event was really successful! I am grateful for HBO Asia for inviting me for the advanced screening. More power, to HBO and its original shows!
